A new experimental developed by John I. Haas and Brulotte Farms in the Yakima Valley. BRU-1 hops are big and bold with a fruit-forward character that also offers clean bittering. BRU-1 has a high Myrcene oil content that makes up over 50% of the total oil and contributes aromas of pineapple and stone fruit that is backed by a soft spice. Pale Ales and IPAs are the obvious styles, but might we are going to try brewing some funky Belgian styles. The breeder says BRU-1 pairs well with Citra, Chinook, and other U.S. aroma varieties.
BRU-1 was founded for its distinct sweet fruit aroma that is often described as pineapple. When used as a whirlpool or dry hop addition, BRU-1 delivers the aroma of freshly cut pineapple and green fruits. BRU-1 plays well with other hops, in concert creating a depth of fruit flavor. BRU-1 has also been shown to improve haze stability in certain beer styles. 2 oz.
