Using an exclusive evaporative process, Dingeman's De-Bittered Black Malt will contribute the same color characteristics as Black malt with a less astringent flavor. Dingeman's De-Bittered Black is a 6-row winter barley which is roasted at high temperature and afterwards rapidly cooled when the desired color is achieved. Of course this malt gives the beer a darker aroma and beer color. The malt gives a smoky/burnt flavor to dark beers. Due to our unique production methods our roasted malts are less astringent.
