Notes

Brew day went well - no stuck mash! Mixing in 1/2 lb Rice husks probably made the difference! Water volumes were good. Keep using mash thickness of 1.75 qt/lb for determining strike and sparge water. Original gravity within 0.001. Refractometer and hydrometer OG values matched!

Mash pH still seems borderline high. Need to correct with water treatment prior to mash. Using gypsum to lower pH is probably good, but consider trying 5.2 stabilizer. Do more research on water chemistry...house water: softened vs unsoftened vs RO.

Learned that Multi-step mash is slow with Brewzilla because you are only supposed to use 500W heater when malt pipe is submerged to avoid scorching (experienced in Doppelbock I). Doing a Decoction makes more sense as you have the time and boiling the grains helps heat the mash.

Mash was running very clear with the grain bed doing some good filtering but still tried a bag strainer during cooling, which filled up quickly and had to be drained. Maybe try a courser bag next time.
