Notes


First brew in Oslo apartment, small batch.

Realized I bought calcium carbonate instead of calcium chloride, so did water/pH adjustment using only gypsum.

Mash:

Heated about 9L water to 75C, added 9g gypsum and malt. Temperature dropped to 69C. Measured pH with a strip after 5-10 minutes, seemed high, so added 5g more gypsum, 14g total. pH still seemed to be on the high side after this, but did no more adjustments. Temperature dropped rather quickly to below 67C, so experimented with adding a bit of heat, and got it back up to 67C.
